Buying a gorgeous new pair of shoes really does produce such a thrill, but then sometimes a little bit of panic sets in...HOW AM I GOING TO KEEP THEM LOOKING FRESH AND NEW?! you start asking yourself. Well have no fear, not only are we passionate about providing you with beautiful, unique shoes and accessories, but also seeking out the best products to help you care for and clean your beloved pieces!
When we discovered Collonil years ago, we fell in love with their selection of products because they really work! We have been slowly expanding our shoe care range to target different problem areas and we wanted to share how to use them-
Protecting:
Prevention is key! So when you first buy your new shoes and before you wear them, its best to spray them with a great protecting spray that is going to create a shield between your new beauties and the outside world (we are looking at you rain and dirt!)
In-store we recommend the Collonil Carbon Pro spray as it is super quick and easy - just spray on any material, leave to dry for at least 20mins and then you are good to go!
Unfortunately, because this is an aerosol product, we can't ship this to our online clients - but Collonil has come to the rescue with their new Carbon Protecting Spray that is AEROSOL FREE! The only difference is the dry time - this product need at least 12hours to dry but it does the same job and is a great addition to your online purchase to protect your shoes. Again you can use this on your leather, suede, nubuck, and textile products so it's a great all-rounder.

Caring:
Leather products are made to last but they do need a little TLC. This is where the Collonil Leather Care Spray comes in. This hydrating and colour activating lotion spray for is perfect for smooth leather, suede, and nubuck as well as mesh/leather combinations. It's even gentle enough to be used on delicate lambskin leather as well!
The spray helps to maintain the soft and supple appearance of the material and provides a much-needed boost. All you need to do is spray onto your shoes from 20cm away and then once the shoe is covered, you can blot it with a dry, clean cloth. Let your shoes dry for at least 10 mins. Once dry, if you need you can buff smooth leathers with a dry cloth and roughen up suede fibers with a suede brush.
Cleaning:
One of the most asked questions we get is how to clean and freshen up white sneakers. The Collonil Sneaker White is our answer!
This product is amazing and really revives your well-worn sneakers. Our favourite way to use this product is as below:
- Firstly, you want to clean off any loose dirt. If your sneakers are leather you want to use just a slightly damp cloth to wipe the upper and then for the rubber outsole you can use more water/soap if needed. You can even use an old toothbrush for cleaning the rubber as it gets into all the crevasses. (this is our secret tip!)
- Once the shoes are as dirt free as you can get them, you will want to pat dry them with a cloth or paper towel to absorb any leftover moisture.
- If your sneakers are white leather, canvas, or sports mesh, you can use the Sneaker White on the upper to revive the whiteness. If not, only use the Sneaker White on the rubber outsole. Place the sponge end on the surface and drag over applying a little pressure so the formula appears.
- Once you have covered the are and there are little to no streaks, let air dry for at least 30mins.
